Do I need to File extension when expecting a refund (Jointly / Single)

Hello,

I am expecting a refund based on Form 1040 for 2019 but my wife and son ITIN needs to be applied through IRS. Since IRS offices are closed, I can not apply it.

Can I file extension single even if I have to file a return jointly ?
