Received 1099-INT from IRS but I am non resident
Hi
I received a 1099-INT from IRS last year as they took a long time to process my refund and therefore added interest. I received a letter from them stating that it was 1099-INT and that I might have to report it on my tax return this year. I am a Non Resident and I am filing 1040NR. I was informed that I don't need to pay any tax on interest received from US government institutions, but I just need to report that I received it. Is this correct?
Thanks
