My wife gets a small monthly alimony payment from her ex. He reports it on Form 1099-Misc, Box 3 'Other Income.' Is it OK to report this as Alimony in Turbotax, even though there will not be a matching 1099-Misc entry? The tax treatment is substantially different based on how the income is categorized.
