Claim Resident Alien Spouse as Dependent

Filing taxes jointly for the first time. My husband received resident alien status mid-2016 and made under $1000 dollars in the fiscal year. I'm trying to figure where exactly I put in his resident alien status/how to apply for a tax exemption.
