I did find that today while reading IRS guidelines. Turbotax is inconsistent though. I have some short term sales (Box A) that are reported on Form 8949 and some short term sales that are not reported on Form 8949. The same thing for long term sales (Box D). IRS said Form 8949 didn't need to be submitted but they could be voluntarily submitted and it would likely be easier if there is a mixture of transactions. I would rather Turbotax let the taxpayer decide whether or not to submit the forms rather than seeing them be inconsistent. I will create an Excel spreadsheet with the data because I don't trust Turbotax after I saw they were inconsistent.
