Get your taxes done using TurboTax
Thank you for responding. I entered the data manually step by step (Description, date of sale, Date acquired, sale price, cost, and category). I found the relevant worksheets for the entries. All of the data I entered shows up on the 1099-B worksheets and the list of all the sales for that brokerage firm. But only part of my entries show up on Form 8949. I read that the data entered into Turbotax is automatically transferred to Form 8949. In my case for whatever reason that is not happening with all of the data I entered.
In one case with a mutual fund, all of the data is entered and shows up on the 1099-B worksheets and the list of all sales for that brokerage firm. I had some sales of that mutual fund in Category D and some sales in Category E. All the sales of that mutual fund in Category E show up on the Form 8949 but none of the sales of that mutual fund in Category D are shown on Form 8949. I printed out my return requesting that all forms to be included in the tax return be printed. I’m still missing several pages of Form 8949. I tried printing only Schedule D and forms 8949. Again I’m missing several pages of Forms 8949. The list of forms shows 2 copies of Form 8949. I should have about 4 copies.
I’ve been using Turbotax for over 20 years and have never had this problem before. I handled each entry in the same way and I can find the entries so I don't think I made a mistake in the way I entered them.
