Get your taxes done using TurboTax
Hello, my question pertains to eligibility for the stimulus package as a 23 year old independent.
Preface: In my 2018 taxes, I filed and was claimed dependent. In 2019 my parent did not claim me, and I filed independent. My 2019 return was accepted on March 29, and got my tax refund by direct deposit on April 13. My mother has already received her $1,200 stimulus, even though she filed later than me.
NOW when I log in to the TurboTax app, it shows a message which says:
"The IRS has the info they need to qualify you for a stimulus payment- The IRS will either send payment to your bank account or mail you a check."
On the IRS website, The Get My Payment tool has consistently given me a "Payment Status Not Available" message when I attempt to check on my stimulus payment.
Basically... I am left wondering, am I eligible since I filed independent for 2019, but not 2018? There is no one to tell me for certain. I was in college until last year and now am working and supporting myself and would love any help I can get on this topic. Thanks so much.
