Possibly, even those she doesn't live with you provided the below are true:

  • she didn't have more than $4,050 in gross income (excluding nontaxable Social Security)
  • you provided more than half of their support. Your parent doesn't have to live with you.  

Note: You can find the amount of her?taxable social security (if any) on line 20b of her 2016 Form 1040 (if she has one)
