Get your taxes done using TurboTax
If you filed an injured spouse form with your tax return when you filed, that will be sufficient for your economic impact payment as well. However, it may take some additional time for it to be processed.
If you did not file one with your original return, you can file the injured spouse Form 8379 by itself, and attach a cover letter indicating that you are filing it in order to be relieved of liability in regard to your Economic Impact Payment. You will find the form as well as the instructions, which contain the address to submit the form, here: IRS Form 8379.
If you are a custodial parent waiting for payment that has been redirected, each state's processing time varies. Many have laws that require that they hold payments from joint filers in order to allow time for processing of any injured spouse claim.
Other than to contact your state's disbursement unit, there isn't any way to know the status of the payment and the IRS will not be able to give you any additional information at this time beyond the date payment was directed, and to where it was directed. They do not have any more information than that at their disposal at this time.
