Get your taxes done using TurboTax
The pending charge should disappear but you can also have it cancelled ...
There are two ways you could have tried to pay your tax bill when you transmitted your tax return.
If you selected that you would pay by credit card, then you need to do the credit card reset procedure listed below. You may be able to fix the error and re-transmit. If you can't re-transmit, or can't fix the error, then you need to print your return and mail it in. Then, either include a paper check, or make a direct payment from the IRS web site.
Looks like you are going to need to do a Credit Card Reset. That way we can reset it in our system and call the vendor the IRS uses to accept credit card payments and have them drop the pending charge.
In order to do this you will need to contact us via phone (because this is a public forum we we cannot collect personal info here), and we will need to gather the following information:
- Name
- Social Security Number
- Date of Birth for the Primary Taxpayer on the return

After you click the link above, enter the question: "I need to reset my credit card" in the "Ask your question" box. Click "Submit" and on the resulting page click the big "CALL" button at the bottom of the screen.
However, if you selected that your tax payment would be withdrawn from your checking account via direct debit, you don't need to reset anything. Your bank info was simply never sent to the IRS. When you re-transmit your return (if you can) your bank account information will be provided to the IRS at that time. If you must mail in the return then you can mail a paper check or pay directly online at www.IRS.gov/payment
