But how can I be claimed when I haven’t lived with my parents for 6 years and they don’t pay my living expenses? If I filed the 1040 form and left the dependent box unchecked, shouldn’t I be in the right? I see no reason why I should be considered dependent on my parents.
Also I haven’t even got another job this year yet since I just started college (only 10 credits though) and we’re in the middle of a pandemic so how am I supposed to get a job to earn income for this tax credit thing anyway? Also,my parents aren’t paying any of my tuition for college either. They are literally a non-factor in my life right now. Haven’t seen them in 6 years.
