Yes, as long as your didn't check the box on form 1040 that says some one can claim you as a dependent. 

 

That said, having you own off campus apartment does not, by it's self, mean your parent  cannot claim you.  This is particularly so in your case, as you lived on your own less than half the year.

 

A child of a taxpayer can still be a “Qualifying Child” (QC) dependent, regardless of his/her income, if:

  1. He is under age 19, or under 24 if a full time student for at least 5 months of the year, or is totally & permanently disabled
  2. He did not provide more than 1/2 his own support. Scholarships are considered third party support and not as support provided by the student.
  3. He lived with the parent (including temporary absences such as away at school, even if living off campus) for more than half the year. In your case, even if your move was permanent, Aug-Dec  is only 5 months.  That means you lived with your parents for 7 months and qualify as their dependent.
