Get your taxes done using TurboTax

This is what I have learned going through the Turbo Tax Stimulus Portal (for folks who don't need to file a tax return):

1.  If you try to go through as Married Filing Separately, it simply does not allow you to do so.

2.  When you call TurboTax, they tell you to file as "SINGLE" rather than "Married Filing Separately.  Ummm....ok.  That's comforting.

3.  When you get to the final submission page (entering your direct deposit info, etc), it allows you to review your documents.  Basically, a 1040 is getting sent to the IRS.  If you are filing as Married Filing Separately, you are now sending a 1040 that shows you as filing as "Single".  Yeah, that won't cause any issues....

4.  The whole point of this Stimulus check registration is to provide the IRS with your direct deposit information to receive the Stimulus check faster.  Well, when you review the 1040 that Turbo Tax is sending to the IRS, they don't even bother to include your direct deposit information that you filled out on the 1040.  It is just left as XXXXXXX.

So in summary.....the IRS will receive a 1040 in my name.  It won't allow me to file it as Married Filing Separately.  And it doesnt even include my Direct Deposit Information.  Can't wait to get an audit and no stimulus check!  Yay!
