@fanfare - but it appears even children born in 2020 (or not born yet this year) will be eligible for the $500 credit once their parents complete their 2020 tax return next year. The money to be received shortly are just a payment against the credits to be calculated on the 2020 tax return.
So in the end whether you filed in 2018 or 2019 is not going to be the FINAL determining factor of the credit you receive - it will be the 2020 tax return. And if it turns out you received too much stimulus money you will not be required to return it, but if you did not receive enough, you will receive the rest as a credit in your 2020 tax return. read the link I provided further back in this thread.
