I tried to reproduce your issue. For my fake return, I assumed you are MA resident receiving RI unemployment due to working in RI. MA as resident return would tax everything and give a credit for RI tax paid.
I was able to adjust in RI and MA for this situation. RI must be done first since it is the non-resident state, then the resident state is done.
Are my assumptions correct? Did you do the non-resident state first? Did you make the corrections for income in each state when asked?
