401k and RI unemployment amounts are double-counted on Mass. Return Form 1
I have a question about my Massachusetts tax return. My taxable wages from Fed. return are 261,591, which includes early withdrawals from my 401k (43,108 via 1099-R), as well as unemployment compensation from RI (14,976 via 1099-G).
On my Mass. Tax return, when I import this information from Fed. Tax return doc, the 401k amounts and RI unemployment are added to to 261,591 Fed wages again, resulting in ‘total MA %5.05 Income of 319,675.
To me, it appears that the 401k and Ri unemployment amounts are double-counted on Mass. Return Form 1? Is that correct? We owe more that we expected, and it seems off.
