No, you are not required to report income from reported in box 3 of form 1099-misc as self-employment income. Please follow the directions below to delete your form 1099-misc:
While in your return, type 1099-misc in the Search box and then select the Jump to link. This will take you directly to the 1099-MISC Summary screen. Select Edit or Delete next to the 1099-MISC you want to change or delete.
Please follow the directions below to re-enter your form 1099-misc correctly:
Since your 1099-misc income was reported in box 3 rather than box 7, you can report it as other income. Please follow the directions below to enter your 1099-MISC form:
- Log in and open your return
- Click the Federal tab (left side of the screen)
- Click the Wages & Income tab
- Scroll down to Other Common Income
- Click Start/Revisit Form 1099-MISC
- Enter the information from Form 1099-MISC and answer the interview questions to report this income.
