I think I may have put mine for my husband and my husbands for mine and now they won't accept our return. What can I do?
Are you sure you're talking about an EIN (employer identification number) and not a TIN? (Taxpayer identification number.)
EIN's are not assigned to living breathing individuals. They are assigned to businesses, including disregarded entities.
TIN's are assigned to individuals who do not qualify for a social security number.
EIN's are formatted xx-xxxxxxx while TINs are formatted the same as an SSN, xxx-xx-xxxx
