As I understand it, once you set up a Direct Debit, the date cannot be changed. But the payment CAN be canceled up until 2 days prior to the scheduled date. I just called the EFTPS number [phone number removed]) and got through right away to a very helpful representative. I had to confirm my SS#, the amount of the payment, and my bank routing and account numbers. She then canceled the payment and gave me a confirmation number. For the payment which will now be due on July 15 she said I could either mail a check or go to EFTPS.gov to set up a payment, or call the same number and set up a payment over the phone.
