MacOS TurboTax Crash During e-filing (Solution)
MacOS Mojave 10.14.6
MacBook Pro 15" 2018
TurboTax Deluxe Version 2019.r21.037
I ran across an issue while attempting to e-file my 2019 fed and CA taxes. After entering my bank account and routing info, and credit card info, TT opens a large window and makes a call to a license server to verify the purchase of the state version. It displays the name and status of the state version in that window, and the only option is to click a "close" button. There are two: a large blue on with white lettering, and a smaller one in the MacOS style in the lower right hand border of the window. Clicking on the blue button caused TurboTax to crash; all the windows closed, and a MacOS dialog box opened to ask if I wanted to report the problem. The next time TT was launched, another dialog box opened offering to report the previous crash, which I did. This issue was repeated several times during two separate calls to TT support, who were very nice, but could not provide a solution. It was only during that second call that I noticed the small MacOS "close" button at the bottom. Clicking on it instead of the blue one closed the license server window and TT continued to run. At that point I was able to click through to the window that actually does the e-file, and successfully file the taxes.
I just wanted to post this here in case someone else ran into the same issue. The TT support people didn't seem to be able to report the bug or escalate the issue to a higher level.
