Turbo Tax does require the Deluxe version to claim student loan interest. What you can do is compare what your refund is:
- Entering information without the student loan interest
- Enter the information with the student loan information
Compare the refund amount by using both methods. If the refund amount is much larger than the $50 you pay for deluxe, then upgrade!! if it is a $50 difference or less, leave your self in the free version. The choice is yours.
