Using EFTPS to deduct taxes due from your checking account
When you get to the point where you can choose to pay your Federal tax due and you choose "deduct from my bank account", the program puts you in touch with the EFTPS to set up a pin and password with the Federal Program in order to pay it. However, if you already have an account set up, it does NOT give you the option of bypassing this and logging into your existing EFTPS account, which is a problem. I checked with EFTPS and they said it is not wise to have two separate logins or accounts with them as it can cause confusion on their end. If you already have an existing account (for example used to pay estimated taxes throughout the year), then click on "I will send in a check" so you can file your return. Then login to your EFTPS account later and set up a date and payment with your existing account. TurboTax needs to have something on that first choice that says "I already have a EFTPS account" so it will bypass that part and you won't be assigned another PIN # and password.
