If when amending your return you find that you owe the IRS and/or your state taxes, you need to remember that when you filed your original return it did not have all the information on it. So if you got a refund from the original return of $928 and then amended the return and owe $903 had the original return had all the information on it the first time, your refund would really have only been $25.00.
You should file the amended return and mail in a payment as soon as you can to the IRS. If you are not able to pay the amount owed, you can apply for an installment agreement by clicking here: https://www.irs.gov/payments/payment-plans-installment-agreements
