No, neither my husband nor I are citizen or permanent resident. My husband is resident alien (he has income in US and file return for years) and I am non-resident alien (not meet the green card test or the substantial presence test). TurboTax suggest filing status as married and jointly. But I do not see anywhere require my foreign income/tax.
Regarding to fake SSN, TurboTax suggest to put in a dummy one in order for the software to work. When filing return, I will cross off this dummy SSN number after print it out. I will apply for ITIN with the tax return together.
