turbotax is insisting I need to file 6251 and elect a treatment of foreign tax. Yet my income is so low I end up paying no taxes at all (either regular or AMT). I had the same situation last year using a CPA, and there was no 6251 nonsense. What is going on, and can I suppress all aspects of the unnecessary 6251?
