does a 401K to IRA rollover always generate a 1099-R or sometimes only a 5498
my son rolled a 401K from a previous employer to an IRA. Both the 401K and the IRA are Fidelity accounts. Fidelity issued a form 5498 and the account website says there are no more 2019 tax forms coming. (I think they were due 2/15/2020 anyway.) I find that hard to believe. Do I create a 1099-R of my own and enter it? Do I nag my son into calling Fidelity? I have googled a great deal (and searched turbo) and found nothing that suggests there should not be a 1099-r. Does anyone know for sure?
