Get your taxes done using TurboTax

If you itemize deductions, you can enter your health insurance premiums in the Medical Expense section. (You don't enter what you paid in the Health Insurance section. That's for showing whether or not you had insurance in 2016.)

To find where to enter these expenses in TurboTax Online:

  • Go to the top of your screen and choose My Account.
  • Choose Tools.
  • Choose Topic Search, then type in your topic (medical expenses) and click Go.

See the screenshots below. You will have to go through several screens before you reach How much did you spend on insurance premiums? If you entered a 1095-A in the Health Insurance section, the amount of your premiums will be transferred. otherwise, you enter what you paid manually.

You must be able to itemize deductions, and your total medical expenses must exceed 10% of your Adjusted Gross Income.
