I corrected a typo above. I had said it takes about 6 weeks for the IRS to receive a Federal refund, when I actually meant it takes them about 6 weeks to process the return and deliver a Federal refund. In other words, it takes about 6 weeks for you to receive a Federal refund after filing by mail. You can choose to receive the refund by direct deposit or a check in the mail.
It has been corrected above, but you may been emailed the answer with the now-corrected screwy wording in that sentence.
