I would re-check your state tax forms. Generally speaking, for tax purposes, most states have a Resident designation but do not have a Citizen designation.
This is in line with the Federal tax forms where there is no difference from a resident alien and a US Citizen. Non-resident aliens do file a separate Federal form, the 1040NR.
