Do I need file tax return
Thanks in advance to any who can help as I am in the final 2 hours left to file.
I get an SS Disability check, plus alimony. I was reading on Turbo Tax that I may not need to file taxes. I have not had to pay anything the last three years because my insurance, medical and meds expense outweigh my income. Every year, I end up paying money to electronically file when I never owe anything. I have a very simple return.
The reason I am stressed tonight is that I have the flu and have had two proceedures done on both feet. I have put my 1099 up for safe keeping and now have forgotten where I put it. Don't mean to complain but it would be so awesome if I didn't have to file, when it is always the same results that I owe nothing. My medical expenses are even more in 2017 as I had to have numerous MRI's to determine I am in the early stages of MS. Finally, I am having issues with a bad laptop that has been cutting off on me approx. every 20 mins. It's so bad that the SSA has locked me out because I have lost connection while trying to log in several times. I have got a code and changed my password, but still locked out for 24 hours, which is past my tax deadline. I don't want to get fined or in trouble for things I don't understand. Do I need to file and if not, do I still need to do anything. How should I handle this? I am feeling so bad with this flu, that my mind is not working properly either. Sorry to complain...I really am. I just need some guidance please. Again, Thanks in advance for any kind assistance!
