To see if you qualify for the Credit for Nontaxable Fuel Usage:
- Continue working on your return in TurboTax Online. (If your return isn't open, you'll need to sign in, and click Take me to my return.)
- Click Tax Tools (lower left of your screen).
- Select Tools.
- In the pop-up window, select Topic Search.
- In the I'm looking for: box, type 4136.
- In the results box, select 4136, then click GO.
- You'll land on Credit For Nontaxable Fuel Usage. (Click the screenshot 1 below for reference.) TurboTax prompts Did you pay federal excise taxes on fuel used in a nontaxable application? Click Yes.

How You Qualify. (Click screenshot 2 below for reference.) Select the statements that apply and click Continue.
- Continue to follow the onscreen instructions. TurboTax will prompt you to enter additional information about your fuel usage and determine if you qualify for the credit.
Note: If using the TurboTax CD/Download software, you'll use the Find function (instead of "My Account") to search for the topic.
