As stated above, box 11 on the 1099-MISC is not active and reserved for future use. However, to enter income from other areas on the 1099-MISC, follow the instructions below:
- Under the Federal menu on the left, click on Wages & Income (or Income & Expenses if you are using TurboTax Self-Employed)
- If the income is related to business activities for self-employed, you will enter the 1099-MISC under the Self-Employment menu
- If the 1099-MISC is for one-time payments not related to a trade or business, click to expand Other Common Income
- Click Start/Revisit next to Form 1099-MISC
- Enter the information as it appears on the form
If you have income reported in box 7, the software will try to determine if this was income related to business activities. Review the questions on the following screens carefully.
