There are many reasons why you owe the state this year, such as:
- Your income increased.
- You deleted a dependent.
- You changed your filing status.
- Your withholding wasn't enough to cover the state tax on your income.
I recommend that you make a line by line comparison between this year and last year's return. Also check the information you entered into TurboTax to make sure they were entered correctly.
