We started paying for our International Adoption process in 2017 and it was completed by the embassy in July of 2018. We have paid in around 40k in allowable adoption costs (Home Study, Two Adoption Attorneys, Embassy fee's, Flight & Hotels expenses, etc.). I understand the Adoption credit is $13,570.00. Is that credit per adoption no matter how many months over (12) it takes or is the credit allowable per year (12 months) of adoption processing and paying?
Do I need to amend our 2017 return?
