The refund/amount due numbers in green/gray at the top of the screen will change as you process through the return.
Use the Tax Tools/Tools, View Tax Summary to review the major line items on your return and compare them to your documents:
Does the Total Income row equal gross income on your W2's, 1099's for income, plus all your other income?
Does the Total Payments row equal your withholding from Box 2 of your W2, plus any other payments you might have made?
I also recommend that you download and/or print a complete copy of your return once you have finished it , before you efile, to check for any data entry or other errors.
This will help you determine why your refund was less than you expected.
