Just trying to understand and get some info about my w2. I live in NJ but worked in NY. Employer sends two w2s. One that is mostly blank except for box 14, which lists the codes with NY as the state. Second w2 is mostly filled. But the difference with this one is that box 15 has just NJ as the employer. And no other state. Which I find strange since I worked in NY and my w2 from last year has NY as the state in box 15. Would anyone know why this is? Should I ask my employer about this before filling? Or can I just file normally like I did last year as a nonresident?
