If your spouse has no income in Pakistan and essentially you are taking care of her financially, you can file married filing Sep and claim her for purposes of exemption -- you will need an ITIN for her ( you will need her docs here though for that ) OR if she is going to here under visa by April 15th. or ( by October 15th, you with an extension ) you can file Married Filing Joint -- a paper return is advised because you will have to attach the W-7 -- application for ITIN. Of course because you are a citizen, and she comes in as a resident / citizen she would have SSN, then again it may be worthwhile to take an extension and file with SSNs. Insha Allah
