As a member of the clergy, I received a 1099 which included my housing allowance as part of my gross income. I asked how to correctly report the housing allowance and deduct it from the gross income and was instructed by accountants-community.intuit to report it as a credit on line 12, Form 1040. However, this was disallowed by the IRS. How do I correctly report my housing allowance and deduct it from my gross income?
