There are about 1000 reasons that the IRS will reject a e-file for, but filing after midnight is not one of them. Filing after Oct 15 simply will not take place at all and cannot "reject".
Again, what was the reject code? It probably has nothing to do with the time filed. (The most common reject is that the 2017 AGI did not match).
