Thanks but that method did not work for me. (The two methods above are just to get to the same screen)
had already entered that screen, but the ext payment does not show up on Sched 5 line 17 or 1040 line 17.
...BUT I searched for schedule 5 and click the magnifying glass next to #71 to get to the supporting form
Which is the "1040 wks", and just another presentation of schedule 5 (NOT helpful)
I press the hourglass on line 71 to get to the supporting form for this redundant form,
Which is the "tax payments worksheet" I entered the amount under "Federal" on the "2018 Extensions" line and close the form. *THAT* pushed the extension amount through schedule 5 and to the 1040. (After jumping to the 4868 ext form for some silly reason, which of course I had already filled out & printed)
