by the way, it is unlikely that TT knows that you made a payment by check. my guess it was an extension payment. if so check schedule 5 line 71 which should show the payment. if not you'll need to enter it before filing in the payment worksheet. if you don't it may not be the worst thing, since if you put identifying info on the payment, the IRS is likely to catch the omission
