Get your taxes done using TurboTax
I finally got my return accepted. You have to do the following:
1 Do a search for "underpayment penalty"
2 Go through the interview for that section again.
3) You will need add the quarterly withholding amounts for each quarter (less the estimated tax payments)
4) You will be asked to input your income for the first three quarters. ( A large part of my taxable income was a RMD which I withdrew in Dec)
5) You will be asked to input by quarter what your short and long term capital gains were, if any, as well as any qualified dividends. This info is on your 1099 B and D.
When you do this the 2210 form is reworked and it calculates any penalty that is due. In my case, I was informed no penalty was due. It then automatically input that info on line 23 of my 1040.
I then saved the changes under a different "save as" name before submitting. Thus I had prepared two tax returns, the original that kept getting rejected and the new one. I submitted the new one and received an acceptance in about a half hour.
Someone on this board suggested searching the "underpayment penalty" and it was the fix. Shame on TT for not posting this fix rather than telling us to print the return out and mail it.
