My job pays us $0.20 a mile & informs us we can file the other $0.34 a mile on our taxes. Where/how do I do that?
After subtracting the 60 miles a day (for the average miles people travel to and from work) I drove a total of 19,103 miles this year, equaling a total of $6,495.02 at $0.34 a mile. I was told I cant claim this by a H & R block agent because it didnt equal over $6300 (clearly it does...). The agent then went on to say that because I was traveling to different states I couldnt claim it either. The lady didnt seem to really know what she was doing so I want a second opinion. If I can claim this how do I do it?
