I am in the same situation where I setup everything as a direct debit and did not send in a check with the voucher as my underlying understanding was that the IRS will debit both downpayment and subsequent installments automatically. There is nowhere stated on my return that I should send in a check - the issue is that it is already May 14TH and the downpayment hasn't been debited. I received a letter confirming that my request was accepted, even created an account online with the IRS, still no info populating at this point. I will wait one more week and call if necessary. If someone went through the same situation and their account eventually got successfully debited please comment in this section, would love to hear how others managed in these cases. Thanks!
