If Social Security Income is the only income received in 2017, it is not taxable and reportable, and you need not file a tax return.
With no taxable income, you cannot benefit from deductions, but rent is not deductible on a federal return, anyway.
Some states offer a rental credit for a personal residence. If your state is one of them, you will see rent related questions on your state interview
