I got $900 to email digital pictures to TMZ. They sent me a 1099 Misc & put the $900 in box 2. Was that the correct form to use? I dont work as a photographer.

I had taken pictures of a freak accident by a celebrity. TMZ approached me & asked me if I wanted to sell them the pictures. I agreed. So I emailed the pictures I took with my cel phone to them. They sent me a 1099 misc form and listed the $900 in box 2 (royalties). Was that the correct form for them to use? And was/is that the correct box to put the monies in? I never gave them physical pictures or a thumb drive. I just emailed the pictures to them. And I don't work as a professional photographer. I have another profession in which I've been in for 40 years and file taxes as such.
