If your 1099-B doesn't have that information, you will need to contact the payer for that information. Double check boxes 2, 3, and 5 on Form 1099-B and any additional paperwork that came with your 1099-B. Box 2 of 1099-B will tell you long or short term. If box 3 is checked it is covered. If box 5 is checked it is noncovered.
