Yes, if you start a new return, previous tax information will not carry over.
You may try changing the information under Personal Info instead.
- Delete your info as Spouse
- Replace the "taxpayer" info with your name, address, and SSN.
- Change your filing status to "widowed" or "single."
In general, this will preserve prior year entries and carry-over info. Realize, however, that anything entered for "taxpayer" in a prior year will now be assigned to you. This is rarely an issue.
