UPDATED FOR TAX YEAR 2019
Even though you are still married, you may be able to use the head of household filing status if you have dependents. According to the IRS:
A married taxpayer whose spouse did not live in the home during the last six months of the tax year can be "considered unmarried" for tax purposes. You will be able to use a filing status of "Single" or "Head of Household," which are usually more beneficial tax wise.
Please read this TurboTax article for information on qualifying for this status: Do I qualify for Head of Household in 2019?
