Get your taxes done using TurboTax

If you filed last year jointly, then you would have only 1 Pin#,  however if you filed separately last year, then each of you would have gotten a pin # to add to the return for security purposes.  So when you state FILING JOINTLY, it will prompt you to add both pin' s #..  Hope this helps...

To enter your dependent's IP Pin:

  1. Open your return in TurboTax, if you don't already have it open.
  2. In the search box, search for IP PIN or ip pin (2 words) in the search box and then click the "Jump to" link in the search results.
  3. TurboTax will take you to the Identity Protection PIN screen. Answering Yes will open a field where you can enter your 6-digit IP PIN.

Alternate Instructions:

  1. Click the Federal Taxes tab
  2. Then click the Other Tax Situations tab
  3. Scroll down to the Other Return Info section
  4. Click Start next to Identity Protection PIN
  5. Select Yes to the question Did you or any of your dependents get an IP PIN from the IRS for this year's taxes? and then click Continue.
  6. You will enter your dependent's PIN on the next screen. (screenshot below)
